Paws for Granville 2023
Paws for Granville Dinner and Silent Auction was held April 1st at The Barn at Vino in Stem. This annual fundraiser benefited the Granville County Animal Shelter and The Humane Society of Granville County. Funds raised will be used for spay/neuter surgeries and veterinary care.
Attendees enjoyed a farm-to-table style buffet dinner, table after table of silent auction items to bid on, and entertainment with DJ Dave. The event sold out again this year thanks to the support of the animal loving community. Thank you to all who bought tickets, donated items or sponsored; you made this possible. With your generous support, $13,497.00 was raised this year!
Hot auction items this year were a 4 pack of tickets to SIX at DPAC with VIP perks included, a pendant from Diamonds Direct, exquisite hand-blown glass items from Lisa Oakley at Cedar Creek Pottery, cat trees loaded with treats and toys, Durham Bulls Ticket package, many handmade one-of-a-kind crafts, gift baskets and lots of gift cards! The response from the local businesses and the public was tremendous and we had over 100 items to choose from – truly something for everyone!
The 2023 Paws for Granville event was sponsored by Tito’s Vodka, Mule Town Veterinary Clinic, Wilson Carpet, Creedmoor Fuel, CertainTeed Saint-Gobain, Missy Robbins Inc, the Koinis Family and DeTray Holdings. Without their generous support, the spay/neuter programs would not be possible.
The Humane Society of Granville County will have a tent at the September Hot Sauce Festival in Oxford. This will be another chance to help improve the welfare of animals in Granville County.
Other upcoming events include Paws for Granville – Shopping for a Cause, a day of vendors at the Granville Expo Center (Hwy 15 near Oxford) on Saturday, September 30th. We should have a wonderful mix of vendors for all and Food trucks! This event also benefits Granville County Animal Shelter and the Humane Society of Granville County (HSGC).
Another event for animal lovers is the 22nd Annual Blessing of the Animals to be held at Bullock’s United Methodist Church, 2682 Hwy 15, in Creedmoor on Saturday, October 7th at 10AM. This community event is sponsored by the HSGC, in conjunction with the Church, and is a very special celebration of the human-animal bond. Pets are individually Blessed by the Reverend, along with their caregivers, and we remember pets we have lost over the rainbow bridge.
